ISM – DOC since 2004
This is a legal requirement for every commercially registered yacht over 500GRT and advisable for private yachts. Our safety management systems are designed to assist crew in correctly carrying out their duties as well as promoting safety and safety awareness onboard. This in turn helps prevent and reduce accidents onboard. Our fully qualified audit team acts as the yacht's DPA (designated person ashore) providing a 24 hour emergency response service, and carries out the required annual internal audit to ensure the yacht's Safety Management System is functioning correctly.
Mini ISM
LY2 (Red Ensign group commercial yacht code) requires commercial yachts over 24 meters but under 500GRT to operate a "Mini ISM" system. This basically sets out the record keeping and procedures yachts are required to keep and maintain onboard. Currently there is no requirement for a shore based DPA as is the case for yachts over 500GRT. WYM have developed an assistance package for this Mini ISM. We advise all yachts, Commercial and Private, to follow these guide lines.
ISPS
This Code is applicable to all yachts and vessels over 500GRT. WYM will produce the yacht's security manual and plans, as well as obtaining Flag State approval and certification. Then in conjunction with the yacht's Safety Management System, the company provides 24 hour emergency response cover and will conduct an internal audit to ensure the yacht's Security Management System is functioning correctly.
